Lights, camera and action – Three Words and Many Secrets. Behind the lights of the camera, lies the dark life of the celebrities who burn their blood each second to ensure the fame, status quo in the glamour Industry which thrives on fake relationships, plastic smiles, compromises and manipulations. Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine is an attempt to show the journey of a superstar who has everything in life but no Love.

Mahi Arora (Kareena Kapoor) is a superstar of the Indian Film Industry but personally she is disturbed with her relationship with Aryan Khanna (Arjun Rampal) who is awaiting divorce from her first wife and is discreet about his relationship with Mahi Arora in media. The relationship got further turmoil and ends up into breakup. Mahi Arora decided to move on in her life and recruited a PR agency Manager Pallavi Nayar(Divya Dutta) to bring her career on track. In the progression she met vice captain of Indian cricket team Angad Paul(Randeep Hooda) and fallen in love with him. Will this relationship last long? Well answer is what Angad Paul said in one of his dialogue ‘Tum Heroine ko sirf acting aati hai Pyaar nahi’ or ‘Tum Heroine ke paas jab career hota hai, to pyaar chaiye ; Jab pyaar hota hai to career chaiye’ **

Heroine is essentially Kareena’s Film not Madhur Bhandarkar film despite the fact Madhur has direction in his credit, the very reason is Kareena Kapoor is the only watchable factor in the movie else could be easily ignored (expect few artists)

There is a dialogue in the movie which says “Glamour Industry takes more than it gives you and the by the time you came to know the fact, it’s already too late” and it seems that Madhur Bhandarkar also got bite by his own glamour industry bug;you cannot simply label this as Madhur Bhandarkar’s work; Heroine completely missed out that punch of realism that His Movie used to give the audience. The screenplay is pathetic and only half baked. In the beginning Madhur tries to show a film journalist as a narrator of the story and just after two stupid lines you got introduction song for Heroine. The start itself was unconvincing that I have to cross figure and pray for the movie being a Madhur’s Fan. The role of narrator in the story in not properly justified , even in the first half there were so many characters around that relating all with each other actually  becomes a brain exercise.

Moreover Madhur’s Heroine is a psycho creature taking pills, smoking, drinking, biting and bitching unhappy with her love life always worried about her endorsements and attending events. Here Madhur must have earned few Crores with endorsements but please Sir, at least look at the story and screenplay. Audience started looking at their watches for the intermission. Even Halkat Jawani is poorly choreographed; DID (Dance India Dance) skippers could have done better than that. Even most of the good dialogues were shown in the trailer itself , Movie does not promise more punches than that.

Kareena Kapoor, she is the only saving grace factor of the movie; she is extremely watchable and has given one of the most powerful performances as an actress in her complete career. It may be coincident that whatever character she has played in reel life may have some similarity with her real life too. But whatsoever the role essayed by Kareena Kapoor as Mahi Arora is outstanding; If I have to search a reason to give extra point to this movie than it Kareena, Kareena and no one else.

Arjun Rampal still needs some classes on expression and acting, Rakesh Bapat character was not defined properly thou Randeep Hooda was somehow convincing as Angad Paul.

Divya Dutta as a PR mananger did her Job well and I must say it’s Helen Ji as Shagufta Rizvi who really impresses us even at this stage. All other ladies are very limited in role and are not worth discussing here (Director Fault Ladies, Don’t take me otherwise)

Music by Salim-Sulaiman is below average, the only good factor is song ‘Saiyaan’ (not Halkat Jawani) sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Art direction and cinematography is average.

As a screenplay or story unfortunately there are no remembrances to share, it’s only Kareena Kapoor who has breath in life to the tired narrative.

Heroine as a movie disappoints but Kareena as a Heroine shines and her performance is the sole reason to watch this movie.  For Glamour Industry my few  lines

Camere ki Light me kitne Andhere hai

Damkate kapdo mein woh Andar se Nange hai

Jis muskaan pe Sakdo Dil jawan hai , woh  khud kitni udaas hai

Glamour ki duniya ke pata nahi aur kitne Raaz Hai !

The quest of human to explore the universe is age old and to find out someone like us always remained a platform for debates and discussion. Based on a naval war Video game by Hasbro (The same company which had developed Transformers Game Series) Battleship explores the possibility of communication with the extraterrestrial living beings through the power of our technology. In 2005 Scientists discovered a planet seems similar to earth environment and to reach out the same they developed a satellite which can amplify the powerful signals sent from Earth five times higher & transmit it further to the space; they named it as The Beacon Project. Luckily to their Bad Luck the signals got responded and suddenly the world noticed the biggest nightmare of their Life- UFOs and Uncalled War on Earth

Peter Berg -the director has done a reasonably good job by putting some nice humor punches throughout the movie and keeps the momentum of the excitement high right from beginning to the end. It’s a 132 minutes thriller which keeps you smile, thrilled and Proud too with some clapping moments. Thou the script of the movie did require proper polishing which felt missing at times. Also its commendable that director didn’t mixed up Transformers with Battleship; as the former just talked about Machines and later despite focusing on huge powerful machines talked about love, Pride, Courage and Aliens of course.

In the opening scene three friends were shown sleeping like animals with their half asses open, insects moving on their body, cockroaches running around their unwashed plates, tap water running into drain one of them is a journalist, second one is a photographer & the third one is a frustrated Cartoonist. The ambience was as horrible as shit jails of the country…Thought: Do professionals live the way it was shown?? I believe even dogs are more responsible to clean their place before they sleep.

In the most awful scene ever come across in cinema where a stool sample has been replaced by diamonds and the don checks it out his table is such an indescribable and detestable moment that if that particular time if you are having your pop corns, burgers and coke you will never dare to take them again..

Recently one newspaper published that Delhi belly isn’t an adult movie said by Aamir Khan. Oh my God…Really?? He is the one guy who has not only given his movie A Certificate but shouts around the world that children should not watch this movie because it’s an adult movie and strangely this market strategy worked out because it’s the teen below 18 standing outside theaters to manage tickets by amoral way.

Mr. Mahesh Bhatt has given a very genuine comment on the same thing

"I think it's Aamir's marketing gimmick. It's a forbidden fruit syndrome and not social concern that making him saying this," Bhatt told in an interview.

Also suddenly the Imran Khan’s social campaign for Youngsters to allow them drink after 18 has become disappeared somewhere in the success party of Delhi Belly at Bandra. Wow what a social deed inspiring young to drink more 

The Makers called this movie as Hinglish…Really? In 90 min run what hindi words you come across are Bhe** C***,G***d,Ch****a etc so the status of Hindi language in the heart of film makers and Critics who all blindly given this movie 3 Stars,4 stars or more is this?? A Sheer shame for the film Critics and the filmmakers. Don’t be surprised why a national newspapaer has given this movie 4 star…if you have watched the movie you will come to know how they got promoted here.

Recently there was a movie “Pyaar ka Punchnama” which also had used abusing languages but that’s the movie which sync with the chord of current youth professionals in a balanced manner and as far as entertainment quotient is concerned PKP is far more superior in its content and presentation.

If the Farting, abuses and shits describes the quotient of entertainment for the critics and filmmakers and few section of audiences than despite of wasting money for a movie they should have visit slum areas of Mumbai they will get all these things simply for Free!!

But than What Is Secret?? Does it hold validity practically?? Is the documentary able to succeed to convince you with the power of an individual lies within?

The Answer is a Big YES. It does. Thou there are some instances mentioned by speakers which are logically debatable as far this documentary is concerned which has been discussed with the flow of article

that’s what’s Chetan Bhagat tries to do while writing one of the most engaging story into Indian Print Space on campus life.

Characters

Three Idiots viz. Hari; Ryan and Alok met by instance while their dear seniors were trying to ragged them by forcing them to put their clothes off and stuffing empty coke bottles into their----- …You know where if you have read that. Ryan as a true Greek soldier saved them from getting virtually raped and a bond of three started in the IIT-Biggest Institution in India for Engineers.

Chetan seems to chosen himself as Hari as he is the one who narrates the complete the Story from beginning to end giving individual space to each friend also by allowing them to write one chapter for themselves including Neha …Hari’s Girlfriend and Prof Cherian Daughter. And who is Prof Cherian? Well he is the HOD and Hari’s only Nightmare

Ryan is the most dynamic guy to whom even Hari want to follow .A Guy with Greek God looks& Physique ; full of Confidence and a Heart to die for Friends (and run away from parents).

Alok is studious who has left his passion for painting to take up his family responsibilities as his father is half dead due to paralysis; sister has grown up and her to be in- laws needs a dowry ticket( a CAR) to make her enter into a institution called Marriage and his Mother teaches Biology in a school- The only earning member in the family

Neha is a girl every parent will cherish and boys will ask for...Beautiful; confident; Emotional ( and Hari will tell you better the day when Neha’s father found her Wrapped in a bed Sheet and Hari in his Shirt n I mean Only in a bed sheet)

And Hari...well He didn’t told about himself much as he enjoys writing about others...A safe-sider

Overview and verdict

It’s an engaging story which not only make you feel lighter but also makes you feel emotions of each character near to your heart with a straight focus on dark side of Indian education where Innovations; new ideas are given no space and everybody supposed to be a Parrot.

All characters, incidents and experience are so alive that if someone has ever lived in hostels or away from homes one could really imagine the scene by scene of novel as you move from one page to other.

It’s a story which does not just focuses on entertainment part but seriously raises the question on bitten Indian education system in IIT and how the system actually brought about changes in the lives of three friends.

It’s also tries to highlight whatever happens family is important even if you don’t need it...They are the one who stands by you when Nobody stands by you…. And Yes Friends...Good Friends are the most lovable assets of One Life.

Chetan tries to make his best to make you smile even in the most serious situation in the story…and that’s the real USP of his style

A very much recommended to all readers who want to recall their campus lives’ fun ;issues and of course first love..

Lastly, if you wish to know if Movie-“ 3 idiots” was based on this book on which such a great controversy raised then honestly the campus life in first half of the movie is a Direct hand pick from the Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone..May be it was Director’s arrogance or Planned Promotional Strategy ; Five point Someone is an enjoyable ride...You will love to take on..Cheers!!
