‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ ironically celebrates the 50th anniversary of legendary film maker Yash Chopra in Indian cinema who left us even without seeing the screening of the film on silver screen. But will he cherish the project if he got the chance to view it in the Heavens? The answer may not be likable to many of us since we live in a country who is blindfold passionate about cricket and cinema and honor their representatives to the position of God and the disagreement may lead into street wars, office wars or Home wars .To cut the story short ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ highly disappoints as Yash Ji venture and seems to be directed along with  Aditya Chopra without any logical plot of the story, screenplay is totally missing and music doesn’t meet the expectation of Yash ji Films from any angle.

Samar Anand , a Punjabi munda who is an army officer- a street singer-a delivery boy-a waiter… well film makers failed to justify his profession; saw Meera Thappar, a high class poor (in love) Indian girl living in London while she was visiting church for her prayers who didn’t want to marry an Indian Boy and aka SRK got the chance to grab the opportunity. He followed her to the party and tried to play with the lady’s hidden emotions, then dance, Kiss, accident and Interval. Akira Rai, a Delhilite and a documentary maker who wear a super-mini shorts  even in Ladakh and who believes in the concept of ‘easy to make out and easy to break up’ found the personal diary of Samar and got to know about his love story. Now strangely our dilli ki billi works in London in Discovery Channel and requested Samar to visit London to authenticate Her documentary  where again he met with an accident, than memory loss followed by patch up with Meera , memory gain.aur audience ki Saans mein Saans ka the end.

If one starts to describe the loopholes of the screenplay and script than this movie lost relevance at very moment. In a scene when Katrina proposes  SRK to Kiss he said Meera “you are crossing the Line” despite the fact just few scenes back He proposed and Kissed her with the comment “Tumne Mana nahi kiya”(You didn’t said No). Ladies are roaming in mini shorts in London and Ladakh. Anushka as a documentary maker gets an easy entry in the army and living and sleeping between army people without any lady officer support. Does Indian army is so easy to approach... May be that’s why we are getting terrorist troubles everyday.

As far as direction is concerned I’m not ready to accept this as a Yashji Venture its easily seems to be directed by Aditya along with Yash Ji and Marketing YashJi name to make bucks on the name of his last venture. Yash ji health conditions were not good since Veer Jara time (released in 2004) and that movie was also promoted as the last movie of Yash Chopra Ji. It’s totally unfair to make Yashji worked in extreme climatic conditions despite of his health. What people seem busy is to enjoy fight between Ajay Devgan &  SRK and which Fan club will win and ignoring the fact that someone has lost his life because of exertion of work in his 80s..Also Yashi Ji heroines usually seen in  sarees in snow clad mountains or under rains or farms  whether its chandini, Dil to Pagal hai,Darr,Veer Jara but again this important thing is missing from this film despite there was ample scope of the same.

Performances, Mr Amitabh Bacchan tweeted SRK performance as best after Swedes; well either he has not watched Swedes or ‘Jab tak hai Jaan’ completely, the very first scene of his unconvincing Punjabi accent puts the audience down. About Katrina, baby besides looking beautiful you need to act also. Anushka too was very average in her role much inspired by her own Band Baaja Barat style.

About Music, A.R.Rehman music was a relief despite the fact Challa song opening track is a direct lift from Eagle Eye Cherry’s Save Tonight song. Thou Choreography by Vaibhavi Merchant is worth mentioning for pre Ishq Shava Sequence. But lyrics by Gulzar are disappointing. Overall Melody of the songs felt forced. Ishq Shava - does anyone knows the real meaning of the same? Gulzar sahab aap hi bata do.

Cinematography -The most pleasing part of the movie and Anil Mehta deserves the full score for the same.

Chalte Chalte , ere yaar  picture bekaar despite  JTHJ has our pyara Khan…

A little sweet, salty and a bit spicy, this cocktail taste great with a balanced and perfect blend of flavors of love & friendship. This one is baked fresh right from the desi factory with the ingredients of fresh music, great lyrics, excellent screenplay and great cinematography.

Cocktail is colorful and its story revolves majorly around three characters viz. Veronica – a bindaas metropolitan girl with ‘f##k the world attitude’ who loves and lives her life in her own way; Meera – an introvert, traditional Indian girl who has left India to be with her husband who is living & working in London and Gautam Kapoor- A devil flirt with ‘F##k any girl onway attitude’ who lives his life king size with no idea of difference between love, flirt & friendship. All three characters met coincidently and start living together which took their friendship to a different dimension of confusions and emotions. The treatment of these emotions with a topping of timely humour is what makes Cocktail a really watchable and entertaining love story

Homi Adajania has played his second shot after ‘Being Cyrus’ and hit a six. Cocktail is genuinely a multiplex movie and basically targeted at the metro audience and Homi Adajania has felt the pulse right. From the opening scene of the movie where Saif ali khan was flirting with Air hostess to the climax of the movie everything has been taken care of perfectly without being loose anywhere in the script, no doubt the credit also goes to Imitiaz Ali and Sajid Ali for the story and screenplay. What is important here is if someone narrates the story it sounds simple and old but it’s the treatment of the subject including the performances of the main leads, Music & Lyrics (Pritam & Irshad Kamil) and cinematography (Anil Mehta) which has brought  a complete fresh look and flavor  of the movie.

Performances?

Well Deepika Padukone as Veronica has given her one of the best performances and emerged as one of the strongest contender for Best actress award this year and maybe she win it too. She has given the flawless performance as a bindaas metro girl or as she says herself a rich bit#h but you would love the way  she is. Diana Penty as Meera has made an outstanding debut and will take you away with her charm and sweet persona.Saif Ali Khan as Gautam kapoor fits perfect in his Casanova avatar thou his age factor is a minus factor for this movie.

There are few scenes worth mentioning here

      a)      In a scene where veronica confess her love for  Gautam to Meera, Deepika Padukone truly
         stands out

b)      In a scene where Gautam tries to make Meera happy by flirting her in cape town is memorable

c)       In  a scene when Gautam’s mother visited Veronica house and Saif Ali khan was dancing with the weird makeup is hugely entertaining

Cocktail definitely tries to touch upon thou not an solution to the  mental state of a man in the society  where he expect his girlfriend like Veronica and Wife like Meera despite taking into the fact into consideration that both are women with heart and emotions. The Line between friendship and love is very thin amongst opposite genders and that where lies the source of complexity of relationship. Cocktail maintained desi cinema status despite being international in treatment but with grace; truly as it name it tries to serve a blend of various flavors  being friendship as its core drink…Enjoy this daru desi J

The quest of human to explore the universe is age old and to find out someone like us always remained a platform for debates and discussion. Based on a naval war Video game by Hasbro (The same company which had developed Transformers Game Series) Battleship explores the possibility of communication with the extraterrestrial living beings through the power of our technology. In 2005 Scientists discovered a planet seems similar to earth environment and to reach out the same they developed a satellite which can amplify the powerful signals sent from Earth five times higher & transmit it further to the space; they named it as The Beacon Project. Luckily to their Bad Luck the signals got responded and suddenly the world noticed the biggest nightmare of their Life- UFOs and Uncalled War on Earth

Peter Berg -the director has done a reasonably good job by putting some nice humor punches throughout the movie and keeps the momentum of the excitement high right from beginning to the end. It’s a 132 minutes thriller which keeps you smile, thrilled and Proud too with some clapping moments. Thou the script of the movie did require proper polishing which felt missing at times. Also its commendable that director didn’t mixed up Transformers with Battleship; as the former just talked about Machines and later despite focusing on huge powerful machines talked about love, Pride, Courage and Aliens of course.
