(Excerpts from Poem: Taki Gair Na Rahoo..)

The above poem tries to find out answers to many questions from the eyes of a boy who born in Kashmir during riots and still in search of his true identity. The difference between Kashmir and Hind; the difference between Pak Muslims; Kashmiri Muslims & Indian Muslims. But Lamhaa seems to lost its own identity it claims –THE UNTOLD STORY OF KASHMIR

The sensitive issue of the Kashmir though questioned; discussed; debated and showcased in breaking headlines every second day but it seriously painful to watch a movie like “ Lamhaa” where director starts with a honest intention but gradually lost into the spices of commercialization .

Rahul Dholakia- the director of movie like Parzania; thou tries to discuss the many issues prevalent into the Kashmir but only upto a surface level without giving any satisfactory solution for the same. The view is absolute neutral which neither justifies neither the side of Kashmiri pundits nor the Kashmiri Muslims.

The story goes like this-

The Military Intelligence came to know about the plot that is likely to cause a situation worse than Kashmir has seen before in 1980s. Vikram (Sanjay Dutt) is appointed as an undercover agent t to investigate this highly confidential mission under his new identity of Gul Jehangir. The very same day he lands in the kashmir, Haji (Anupam Kher), a top separatist leader, survives a blast. Was this blast has something to do with the operation 89? To solve this puzzle Vikram teams up with Aziza (Bipasha Basu), Haji’s Young but bold; Beautiful but aggressive protégé. The similarity in the motive to save Kashmir makes the bonding between the two stranger even stronger. But to make the dream true of Azad Kashmir the public elections needs a leader who view Kashmir as they dreamt of-Peaceful & beautiful; they got the one in Aatif (Kunal Kapoor) - a young and potential leader of Kashmir and the lover of Aziza. Will Kashmir see a new Dawn of Peace? Well A Question never answered in the movie

The subject Kashmir itself is very complex but the movies like “YAHAAN” are more relevant than this one whose catch line says “The Untold Story of Kashmir”. Whatever has been showcased known to everyone and whatever trill director tries to produce went without making a noise due to Indian Roads size Potholes we face in Monsoon(And this was not a different One) .

Sanjay Dutt whose entry was more of like its earlier avatar in Sanjay Gupta’s flicks like Musafir ;Kaante made no presence as a character. The director fails to justify that why he followed Aziza and what he actually gained out of it??How in whole Kashmir he knew that Aziza would help her in finding out the mystery behind the Blasts despite the facts that only in the end Hazi’s reality came in front of him? And why only Sanjay Dutt was chosen for the mission still something not answered by the director.

Bipashu Basu thou gain some success to prove her potential somehow but Kunal Kapoor is simply a big thumps down. His dialogue delivery as a politician was a pure fiasco.

James Fowlds is the one who deserve credits for his brilliant cinematography and songs like “Madhno” tries to save the grace of the movie.

But Overall after My name is Khan this is the Second movie this year which tries to touch the sensitive issue but lost in the tides of Big names and fames. For Lamhaa with 5.2 average score on Re.VieW DialMeter™ it deserves NO AVA HONOUR.

Wish

“EK Lamhaa to khubsoorat hote iss lamhaa ka; Ek muskaan to Jee Jati
Ek umeed thee Kashmir ko Is se; Sirf baato me naa kho Jaati”
