SKYFALL – A James Bond brand new chapter where  many lessons of the bond series seem to be partially written or forgotten like the quintessential ‘3S’ elements of Bond series –SPEED , STYLE & STORY.

Skyfall opens with an extraordinary adventure sequence in Turkey where Bond and Eve follow the French mercenary Patrice in an attempt to recover a hard drive that contains details of all undercover NATO agents in a terrorist organization. In the process, Eve was ordered my M, head of MI6 to take a shot that unfortunately hit the Bond and James Bond is presumed to be killed. Till here audience glued to their seats with breathes high which was taken high further with a brilliantly picturised track song by Adele. But further movie FALL like an apple from SKY and collapsed with few Jumps in Between.

SKYFALL is extremely slow in terms of narration, except the first 15 minutes it fails to keep the same pace to the rest of the movie.  Its background score impresses you at places and at places it fails to generate the high octane excitement of Bond

Sam Mendes, the Director of the SKYFALL seems to be working hard to make the classic adventure as dark as it used to be but the screenplay is such a weak part of the movie that it doesn’t return what you have expected. For e.g. : Bond gets shot twice in the beginning one at the right shoulder during the initial chaos and the  second when Eve shot him accidently, but surprisingly in the next scene of the movie he is perfectly all right lying in bed with a lady and wine. And also throughout the movie only right shoulder wound is highlighted, second wound is forgotten, never discussed. And in another scene when bond cut down his own skin on the wounded spot to get some gun material for analysis is silly. There was another scene where he hangs himself below the moving lift ; Dear James You could have used another Lift or stairs isn’t? I’m really surprised by the claim of Skyfall being the best bond movie ever by xyz of the media industry! Also one would think why the movie name is titled as SKYFALL, though in the end audience gets the hint but it was funny at least not justifiable for a spy movie.

Cinematography –Yeah this one area which scores 10/10, Roger Deakins has done incredibly an outstanding Job. Visual Effects by the team is also impressing.

Regarding the performances, Daniel Crag as an old espionage fully justify his character, though we always missed that ‘Bond, James Bond’ style by his previous counterparts. Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva was impressive. Judi Dench as M was convincing as always. Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny was a decent surprise. Berenice Marlohe as Severine looks sexy and Ben Whishaw as Q was decent.

Overall, in SKYFALL has some colours of rainbow bright, few are shady and the rest is invisible. For the Hardcore Bond series Lover this could be a treat without toppings.

  1. Brilliant analysis of one of the all time best James Bond Films. I completely agree with your overall assessment of the movie. Daniel Craig continues to impress and and is the real star of the movie.

  2. A fair valuation. I can see that you address correctly thr strengths and weaknesses of the film. I think it is overrated by critics. At least it is not the best but just average bod film. A kind of "could have been better" i suppose.

  4. If you had paid closer attention you would realize that James has two bullet holes almost side by side on his shoulder. please refer to the scene on the island where Silva inspects the bullet hole. you have the best view in that scene.

  5. How could he have taken the lift and knew what level he ahould go to? Also, another lift coming up would alert the guy and a lift is somewhat of a strategic no-no in these kinds of scenarios. Furthermore did I not notice a lack of style or speed, I agree the story is somewhat shallow and there's too much left for the viewer to figure out for themselves. This is a horrible review by the way, criticize your grammar and spelling before you badly criticize a proper movie. Regards, Ary
