Quoting one of the cheesy dialogue from the movie “Public saaman dekhti hai Dukaan Nahi waise
bhi jab sharafat ke kapde utarte hai to sabse jyada maza Sharifo ko hi aata hai”
lets welcome one of the bravest , bold yet beautiful movie of the Indian cinema
breaking the social moulds of conservatism ; stripping the star status and
their life to the silver screen and redefining the other side of woman; The
Dirty Picture is just not an “ A rated ” film which makes testosterone running
in your organs But a very well written screenplay with a strong storyline.
Reshma ( Vidya Balan) who ran away from her home one day before her marriage to become an
actress but got rejected by the casting
director being unattractive and fatty for almost two years suddenly got an
opportunity to prove her mettle by converting a normal hunter scene into sensuous
Hunterwali sequence which turned a flop
movie into a blockbuster directed by annoying film director Abraham(Emraan
Hashmi). The hit status of the movie started an ego war between Reshma and
Abraham but an opportunity for the film producer Selvaganesh(Rajesh Sharma) who
reincarnated Reshma as SILK.But there is an obstruction in the success story of
Silk viz Suryakanth (Naseeruddin Shah) –The Superstar of Tamil Cinema .And
Reshma thought to overcome this hurdle by
choosing Superstar’s Bedroom as a shortcut solution to move on the ladders of
Success…But did she succeed in Personal life???
“Aurat jo hai na rainbow ki tarah hoti hai, jitney rang utne roop;kisiko lagti hai lottery ki tarah, lag jaati hai to kismet khul jaati hai ;Kisiko hoti hai mohabaat ki tarah,Ho gayi to jaan atak jaati hai;Mujhe to chadhi zehar ki tarah ki ab paani bhi peeta hu na ,To aag lag jaati hai” This dialogue alone says various facets of Woman life and Vidya played all well with perfection. Hardly you will remember a movie in the recent Indian cinema which could be recalled because of its actress not actor and this one you will remember only because of Vidya’s outstanding , brave and unusual performance as a Silk. Quoting from Movie “ Is Industry mein actor bahut hai , Lekin Hero sirf ek tum ho Silk”
Rajat Aroraa cannot be left mentioning here. Without his dialogues even this review would not have beautiful. He made movie crisper and dialogues worth recalling. Few of them are
a)“ Dil bhale he left mein hota hai lekin uske phaisle humesha right hote hai”
b) Har addmi ke liye ek aurat hoti hai..Usse bach gaye , toh life ban jayegi
c) “ Main Silk Hu Silk koi Film nahi jo Interval ke baad badal jaau ”
d) ‘Kuch ka logo ka naam unke kaam se hua hai,Mera Badnaam hoke hua Hai”
The cinematography by Bobby Singh is worth mentioning. Thou I doubt whether he had to change his pants more than Vidya Balan dresses :P .One thing worth mentioning is Vidya Balan dressing. She is infamous for her dressing but whether its kudos to the director or equally to the fashion designer She looked gorgeous in whatever (Yes Whatever I mean) she worn in the movie.
About Music ‘OOH LA LA ’ yeah that’s ‘O’ Factor in the movie you won’t resist to miss. ‘Ishq Sufiana’ is beautifully choreographed and written. Thou honestly lyrics do not make much listening sense for other songs but keeping the 80s theme for a soft-porn star’s life the songs moves with the flow.
For the Director
Kudos .Kudos.Kudos I think that’s enough for Milan Luthria. Quoting from movie again “ Har movie ka ek hi Hero Hota Hai-Director” and truly he was the hero of the movie. He has dealt with a subject so sensitive and yet presented not only beautifully but meaningful.
At last
Filme sirf teen cheezo se chalti hai -Entertainment ,Entertainment,
Entertainment- Aur Main Entertainment Hu” Go Entertained alone, friends or with your
Girlfriend (But Don’t let your Wife Knew this ;) because quoting again from
movie“History
utha ke dekh lo, Do cheeze humesha common rahi hai, mardo ka zamana raha
hai,aurato ne aakar aafat ki hai ;) ” )
