Special Report: On the eve of 65th Independence of India and 300 Years Slavery of Common Man
An Old half bald man wearing dhoti, an old coat and round frame spectacle carrying a newspaper and a little potli of hope - That’s how we know an image Of a COMMON MAN sketched by respectable cartoonist and author Shri R.K. Laxman in 1951. He is saying a lot through “You Said it” from last 60+ Years but we people read it daily as a morning loo activity and flush out it without any activity. Now this common man who tried to keep himself open in public to make you aware, trying to keep himself hide in the corner of his small toilet size flat which has cost him his lifelong savings to take it one in a metro city with 10 times burden of loan on his head as he knows that he may be blown up by a terrorist attack or a bureaucratic attack anytime anywhere as he will move out or if we speak out something…. He is Afraid…He is scared...He is a Common Man of India…The Stupid Common Man of India
On 5 September 2008 (Teacher’s day) the classic movie ‘A Wednesday’ got released.Naseeruddin Shah a lead protagonist successfully attempts to make not only Mumbai but pan Indian political and security system awaken that if not today tomorrow every common person has to came into war arena to fight against corruption and misadministration if those who are assigned for this job won’t do their job honestly and seriously. But as said, our system has again thought it as a Popcorn flick, Saw it and forget.
On 26 November 2008 almost after two and half months of its release Mumbai seen it again; India’s most reputed Taj Hotel was burning; there was screaming, shouting, bloodshed, tears at the Mumbai
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus; there was hope dying under gun points at Oberoi Trident and Nariman house, Politicians were shouting their MUMBAI SPIRIT slogans and Media were getting serious for the first time beyond their TRP games… But what has happened then?? Nothing ;( Everyone watched it from their drawing rooms than relaxed …

Many of few while reading may be thinking than what can we do?? Do we need to follow Naseeruddin Shah as he did in ‘A Wednesday’ . The answer is ‘NO’- A Big No.
Than what could be the Solution?
a) Maturity of thought and Freedom:
It’s not the age it’s how mature we think makes the difference.
We have to get rid of Caste Systems and regional differences. This is one of the most complicated things to do, not because it cannot be done but because we cannot do. I know one my Andhra friend who hates R. Madhavan just because he said once that he won’t work in Telegu Movies. Don’t we need to grow up?? Few people love Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar not just because of their work but also because they belong to one particular state. The same reactions have been observed during common wealth games when few people were cheering states not Nation. National Importance movies like ‘Chak de India’ just remain as popcorn flicks because WE DON’T WANT TO CHANGE.
b) Role of Media :
The superfast Indian news channel and few who claim to Keep You Ahead are busy 24 hours covering Rakhi Sawant and her cleavages , 2012 World destruction, horoscope, celebrities’ break up, realty shows clips, aliens arrivals etc . Is it Journalism? And why these news channels are actually growing and prospering? Because ‘WE WANT TO SEE IT’. If you stop watching it and they will stop showing you.
The media has to become serious towards responsible journalism. Their Job is to make public aware and fear free is quintessential.
c) Voting Power
We know how Voting done in Indian rural areas and voters got influenced by politicians by giving them blankets, alcohol, money etc. And people who are actually shouts like Professionals, college students NEVER VOTE. They are busy on Facebook, twitter, Movie theatres, dating assuming Voting day as a National Holiday.
The Common Man trying to see a light of hope everyday through a corner in a newspaper hoping that at least someday someone will awaken to make him fear free, confident to move freely in his own nation…He Hopes …Hope the Right one is reading it
